COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK AW13- DAY 2

COPENHAGEN FASHION WEEK-DAY 2

I have been so busy this few weeks and so I haven´t had the time to blog about CFW. I also have had shitty internet connection to it had made the blogging more difficult!! Anyway, I flew to London yesterday for both London Fashion Week and  field trips with my uni. I decided to fly to London a few days earlier to visit some of my favorite markets, Portobello Market and Brick Lane market and also re-connect with London. Yes, I know what you all are thinking, have Tara gone bananas??? I have to tell you guys that I have a really wierd relationship with London City. I have experienced and grown so much in this town during the years, so I have a special bond London and thought it was time for one- and one time. Before I start to sound really really crazy, I´m gonna say that I have decided to post all the pics from day 2 in one post update. Tomorrow I´m gonna write a post about the last day of CFW and start to blog about my days in the worlds greatest city!!!

The second day at Copenhagen Fashion Week, I attended Baum und Pferdgarten fashion show which was held on Charlottenborg Art Hall in the central of Copenhagen.  This was one of my favorite collection during CFW AW13 and I specially liked the colorful collars. I could really see myself wearing every piece of this collection. I  strongly recommend to see the whole collection HERE !

After some hours shopping in Copenhagen, it was time for Designer´s Remix AW13 collection.  When entering the building, all the guests were welcomed by waitresses dressed in white hospital cloths, serving champagne. I though to myself  ”What a funny idea!” I soon understood the idea behind the waitresses clothing when the show started. Some of the first models were dressed in white from top to toe, meaning also wearing white wigs with old school nurse hat. The concept of AW13 was  ‘Eskildson hospitals’ conceptual and minimalistic universe.

The words that best describes this collection is casual chic! Amazing collection!!! Wanna see the whole collection? Click HERE!

Soon it was time for the Swedish designer Sofifi to show her AW collection at Børsen. The collection was dominated by black leather and laces dresses and pants, but also a few laces pieces. The collection did not appear to me taste (besides the black top on the first pics, loved it) but I noticed that a lot of ppl like the collection. Curious to see the whole collection? Click HERE!!

The second day of CFW ended with a very artistic show by Barbara I Gongini at Børsen. The collection combined with the music was a magical experience! I loved that the music was a mixture of different sounds and songs, for instance  Kleerup feat Lykke Li ” Until we bleed”. Click HERE to see the whole collection.

FINAL DAYS IN MILAN

I´m back in Sweden and the final days in Milan was really good, except one rainy night which almost killed my favorite shoes. Unfortunately the hotel I was staying at didn’t had good internet reception. It basically took 4 h to attach 7  pics on the blog so I though it might a better  idea to blog about Milan and attach pics when I’m back home in Sweden.

Anyways here is some pics of the last days in Milan. We went to a department store , called La Rinascente which is the largest department store in Milan and has several floors of designer cloth, accessories, handbags, furnishings ,restaurants and much more. La Rinascente is located nearby the Duomo and Piazza Duomo in central parts of Milan and its also close to Milan´s  famous shopping streets, also called Quadrilatero d’Oro (Golden Quad). This streets are formed by Via Montenapoleone, Via Sant’Andrea, Via Monzani and Via della Spiga.

La Rinascente reminds me a lot of Selfridges and to be honest I was disappointed of the sale. Less that 5 % of the entire department store had sale. Harrods and Selfridges are much more better when it comes to sale. But La Rinascente is definitely worth a visit.

NAGVIGLI

Aften a full day of shopping, we went to Navigli to some eat dinner and explore the area and fall in love with Navigli. The atmosphere and nightlife is topnotch and after dinner, we walked around and found this square where lots of ppl was hanging and enjoyed the lovely night with a drink. Love it!!!

MILAN- DAY 2

MILAN DAY 2- SHOPPING

The first shopping day in Milan started in 10 Corso Como, a hyper cool store which contains designer clothes, music, art, photography etc. You can find very cool and fashionables cloths, bags, shoes, jewelry and much more from different designers at 10 Corso Como. I was not allowed to take any pics from the inside of the store but trust my words, the inside was very magical and now its sales time.  We also visited the outlet, which by the way is very easy to miss  because there are no signs. I have taken a pic from the outside of the outlet to show you how difficult it is to find the entrance. 10 Corso Como is a MUST if you are in Milan. And don’t miss 10 Corso Como´s restaurant that is very busy during summer nights.

After a being at 10 Corso Como outlet, we walked to China Town and had a quick bite to eat and headed to the shops. I was in trans when I entered the jewelry shops in China Town. Here you can find amazing and very cheap jewelries and accessorize. Karl and I went bananas and got 6 pair of sunglasses for only €10. I didn’t buy any jewelries but I´m definitely gonna do it before leaving Milan. And don’t miss the tasty and also cheap restaurants (a meal costs around €4) in China Town, but the staff can’t speak any english so it’s a little bit of gamble what food to order, we excitedly ordered a meal that we thought was chicken file, but it was chicken skin!!

After China town, we went to ilsalvagente, a two floor outlet and here you can find branded clothes, bags, shoes, belts etc at a very reasonable price. Now there is a sale so if you are in Milan, DONT MISS ILSALVAGENTE!

Have to rush now, new adventures are waiting for me!! See you!!

LORETO APRUTONI

LIFE IS FULL OF SURPRISES

“A story to me means a plot where there is some surprise. Because that is how life is – full of surprises.”

-Isaac Bashevis Singer

Our last day in Pescara, we decided to take the bus to a little historical village called Citta Sant´Angelo. While waiting for the bus, Karl went to a gas station nearby to buy water when an Italian-Irish man called  Carl Smyth started to talk to him. Just a few lines were exchanged before Karl joined me at the bus stop.  Carl (the Italian- Irish man) is a collector of Volkswagen and was repairing one of his cars from the 60´s while we waited for the bus. After waiting for 15 minutes and no bus was arriving, Karl went to talk to Carl and asked for his opinion about the village Citta Sant Angelo and if the journey was worth going. While chatting with Carl for a while, he invites us to another, better (Carls word), village called Loreto Aprutoni where his vineyard and olive farm is located. Loreto is a wonderful medieval town located at a hill about 20 km from the coast, in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Carl thinks that Abruzzo is the new Toscany and now I can see why. In this region you can swim and sunbath only three hours away from skiing resorts and the villages along the road are very genuine and “Italian”-like. Carl dropped us of in Loreto and we walked around  in this small village for an hour and the Carl picked us up again and took us to his vineyard where we also met his wife. Carl barbecue and while waiting for the dinner, we drank German beer and I got a glass of his home made wine (amazing) and talked all night long. Later on Carl gave us a lift home in his Volkswagen from the 60´s.

Sometimes, life is strange and you never know who you will meet and what you will do. I had almost forget the kindness and hospitality a stranger can give to another and Carl Smyth and his wife showed and remind me of this, and I´m deeply grateful to have meet him. Some days you will remember forever, and this day was one of them.

FINAL DAYS IN THE SUN

PESCARA- MONTESILVANO

Some pics from our week in Montesilvano, a village near Pescara.

Tomorrow its out last day here in Montesilvano and as always, its hard to say goodbye and leave. The village Montesilvano is extremely relaxing, amazing weather and the restaurants are cheaper and tastier than the ones in Rome. But I would not recommend to travel to Montesilvano if you want to party and site seeing and not expect luxury. If you want to eat, sunbath and live cheap, here is the right place!  A positive  thing about Montesilvano is that you are always surrounded by lovely Italians and you can truly feel the Italian culture and traditions, in other words here are only a few tourists from abroad (like us). On the other side, almost nobody here speaks English and its pretty hard to communicate with the locals and do simple stuff, like order a meal.

Next and final stop: Milan.

L’isola del Cinema

L’isola del Cinema- Rome

During my vacation in Rome, a open air film festival in the Tiber Island called L’isola del Cinema was organized. This film festival is only during the summer, from the 18th of June to the 30th of September .This event is not only about films, a lot of restaurants, bars and different stands are being build around the River Tiber to attract more visitors. The restaurants during this event is a mixture of different cultures and countries, you can eat italian, arabic or english, the choice is yours! The atmosphere is amazing, specially during evenings where a lot of people gather to eat and music is played at the different restaurants /bars. This open air film festival attracts lots of people, from young to old , tourists and of course locals and the entrance is mostly  for free. Why not eat italian for dinner, smoke shisha afterwards and drink english beer at the same place.

BE HERE FOREVER, UNTIL YOU BREAK

PESCARA

We have finally arrived in the lovely seaside resort Pescara. Pescara is the capital of  the Abruzzo region of Italy. Our arrivel was kind of dramatic, here is the Pescara story:

We first took the bus from Rome to the central of Pescara and the plan was to take the easiest way to the hotel, which was also by bus. Unfortunately we were a bit confused because we got different information on how and which bus that will take us to the hotel. Some people told us one direction while others told us the other direction and always different bus numbers. Finally we decide to get on a bus we were recommended, number 3, and Karl went to the bus driver to double-check if we are on the right direction. Of course it was the wrong bus and the bus driver informed us that the bus we are looking for will stop at the next bus-stop, so we went off the bus. After waiting a while at the bus-stop, we decided to stop being such adventurers and take a taxi instead. Soon we discovered that my laptop bag was gone and of course we panicked. We thought we forgot the bag on the bus and told the taxi driver to hunt down the bus nr 3 instead of the initial instructions; to go to the hotel. However, the taxi driver had other intentions and wanted as soon as possible to drop us of at the hotel. I don’t know if he didn’t understand us or thought we were being over dramatic (it is only my beloved Mac with a ton of pics, documents etc).

Long story short, we forgot my laptop bag at one of the bus-stops in the Central of Pescara and it was on the same spot we left it at. We were soo happy and released that we founded my laptop. Afterwards we arrived at the hotel and slept for several hours…
