- a variety of ceramic flowers
- brass components–we suggest these & these
- ’2 4mm jump rings
- a pair of glue-on earring posts
- a pair of earnuts
- E6000 adhesive
- pliers
- wooden spoon and/or toothpick

STEP 1

Start by squeezing a small amount of E6000 into a disposable container or onto a wooden popsicle stick. Tip: use a small amount at a time, as the glue tends to dry quickly!

STEP 2

Using the tip of a toothpick, apply a dollop of glue onto the back of the largest ceramic flower.

STEP 3

Press the flower firmly onto the smaller brass component.

STEP 4

Continue to glue the smaller flowers to the bottom brass component. Allow to dry for a few hours.

STEP 5

Once the flowers have dried, glue the earring backs to the back of the smaller brass flower. Allow to dry completely.

STEP 6

Using a pair of pliers, attach the two components with a jump ring.

SAVE YOUR BLUSHER

TARA  ♥  DIY PROJECTS

Don´t you just hate when you accidently drop your blusher on the floor and it breaks into thousand pieces!! It always happens when you are in a rush and you just want to do your makeup quickly and get on with your life. Basically every time I break my powder, blusher, eyeshadow or other powderly make up products, its when I´m in the rush!! I always thought it was such a waste to throw the blusher out (specially if it’s an expensive one), but at the same time, I could´t use it anymore!! Really frustrating!

I HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT SOLUTION!

Today I was looking around in the great world of Internet and bumped into The Beauty Department (featuring Lauren Conrad) , an amazing tutorial blog that mainly focus on hair, make up and nails. And they have figured out the solution to my problem. (Yeay!!) In 5 easy steps, they show you how to rescue your favorite blusher or other powderly make up products. As soon as I read the post, I  knew I must share it.

ALL YOU NEED IS:

  •  70% alcohol
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Spatula
  • Dropper
  • Synthetic eyeliner brush
  •  Q-tip

STEP 1| WRAP IT UP: Completely cover the compact with the plastic wrap and make sure it adheres tightly to contain everything.

STEP 2| MASH IT UP: With your spatula, crush up the entire pan of shadow, not just the broken pieces. You essentially are turning the pressed powder back into loose powder.

STEP 3| ADD ALCOHOL: Remove the wrap and add at least 10 droppers full of alcohol. You can add a few droppers full at a time to see how much you need. I used a dozen.

STEP 4| SMOOTH IT OVER: Now you’ll feel the powder has become sponge-like and very pliable, giving you the perfect opportunity to even it out smoothly with your spatula.

STEP 5| PERFECT THE EDGES: Use your eyeliner brush to smooth it out even further. Give it a few hours to completely dry and it’s like it never happened! To make it extra pretty, clean up the perimeter with a Q-tip.

ALL YOU NEED IS:

1.5 yards of waxed linen cord

50 – 70 size 8/o seed beads

a 10-13mm two hole button

Scissors

 STEP 1

1. Cut the waxed linen cord into a 26″ and 19″ piece. Fold the longer strand in half. Align one end of the shorter strand with both ends of the longer strand. Fold the excess over the top of the folded piece creating two parallel loops.

STEP 2

2. Tie a knot about half an inch down from the loops. Snip off the extra fourth strand, leaving 3 equal strands of equal length.

 STEP 3

 3. Start braiding the strands. After about an inch or so, braid in the beads. Thread a bead onto the outer left strand.

STEP 4

4. Push the bead against the base of the braid, and cross the left strand over the middle. Now thread another bead onto the outer right strand. Push it to the base of the braid and crossover.

 STEP 5

5. Keep a finger at the base of the braid, holding the beads in their place and keeping the braid tight. Continue threading on beads before each strand is crossed over.

 STEP 6

6. Finish the bracelet with another inch of braided cord, measuring it against the wrist. Tie a knot.

STEP 7

7. Thread on a two hole button – two strands through one hole and one strand through another. Secure it with another knot.

STEP 8

8. Trim the end.

STEP 9- FINISH

9. Your bracelet is finished! Try using different colored waxed linen and beads.

DIY- PRINTED SILKY PANTS

TARA ♥ DIY PROJECTS

The pyjamas trend with monotone prints and silky garment is very hot for the moment.  A lot of internationals designers like Stella McCartney, Jonathan Saunders, Louis Vuitton and D&G have used the pyjmas trend in their collection for Spring/Summer 2012.

I´m a big fan of this trend because I love wearing silky trousers. The material is so soft!! Geneva have sew one pair on her blog A Pair and a Spare  so if you can’t find a pair, just sew one! Hunt down some printed long scarfs with print at Second Hand stores, or make your mother/grandmother to give you theirs and start sewing! With this tutorial you can also sew  summery silky shorts!

ALL YOU NEED IS:

- 3m of printed fabric
- Scissors
- Some rope or ribbon to use as the waistband
- Pins
- Black thread
- A seam ripper
- A pen or chopstick
- A sewing machine

STEP 1

1. Grab yourself a pair of wide leg trousers (pajama or fisherman trousers are fine). Fold your fabric in half and then lay the trousers with the long edge along the fold. Cut around the trousers, adding a good couple of cms/inches along the outside for the seams. Now repeat this step so you have two pieces of fabric.

STEP 2

2. Lay the two pieces of fabric again each other with the right side (outside) of the fabric facing in. Pin along the rounded edge. Try to match the patten up here as much as possible between the two pieces of fabric – this is where it will meet in the crotch.

STEP 3

3.  Sew the two rounded seams with a zig zag stitch.

STEP 4

4. Flip the seams around so that they lay flat against each other to create the crotch.

STEP 5

5. Pin and sew the inner leg seams, from the crotch down to the ankle.

STEP 6

6. Double the ankle hem over twice and sew down. For the waistband, double it over twice, making sure to leave 2.5cm (1in) of a gap for the waistband casing.

STEP 7

7. Using the seam ripper, at the front of the trousers open a few of the stitches of the waistband along the seam to create a hole. Tape the ribbon to the chopstick and then push it through the waistband casing, bringing it out the other side and tying the ends in a bow.

DIY- BUTTONS

Here is two easy DIY projects you can do with beautiful buttons. For more info and other DIY- projects, click on the pics. Happy DIY ppl :)

DIY-SEQUIN SHORTS

TARA ♥ DIY PROJECTS

You know my passion for DIY projects and I found this amazing tutorial on one of my favorites blog A Pair and A Spare. Geneva shows how to make a sequin shorts.  Easy right??

For more info and other DIY projects, visit Geneva´s blog: A Pair and A Spare.

ALL YOU NEED

2m (or around 2 yards) of sequin fabric (go for copper or bronze for a more subtle look)
Elastic to fit around your waist
Scissors
Needle and thread
Pins
Shorts to use as a pattern or your pre-made pattern (I show you how here)

STEP 1 & 2

1. Make your pattern - check out how I did it here to make your own and keep your pattern for your next projects. Alternatively, just fold a pair of shorts in half (back pockets together) to get your pattern.

2. Fold your fabric in half and lay your pattern (or shorts) with the long side along the folded edge of the fabric.

STEP 3

3. Cut your piece of fabric out. I usually add a cm or so along the edges just to be on the safe side.

STEP 4

4. Now do this again so you have two identical pieces.

STEP 5

5. Unfold your pieces and lay together with the right sides (the side with the sequins) facing each other.

STEP 6

6. Pin along the two rounded seams.

STEP 7

7. Sew using your sewing machine (or do a backstitch by hand).

STEP 8

8. Now this bit can be a tad confusing. Once you have sewn along both rounded seams hold up your two pieces (which should now resemble a tube of fabric). The sewn seams will be on the outside edges, you want to switch them up so that they sit facing each other in the middle of the tube of fabric – and hence make up the crotch.

STEP 9

9. Lay the crotch you have just created flat and pin together. Sew along the pin line using a zig zag stitch.

STEP 10

10. To create a simple waistband, fold over the top 2 inches of the shorts – leaving enough room to fit your elastic, and sew down. Leave a small hole at the seam through which to thread the elastic

STEP 11

11. Finally, thread your elastic through the waistband – I use a chopstick and masking tape the elastic to the end to make it easier. Once it is all threaded on, sew the elastic together and then finally, sew the hole in the waistband shut (refer to this post for more detail on how to do the waistband).

FINISH

And there you go – simple right? Sequins may appear hard to tackle, but they’re perfectly easy! You can also do lining in the shorts if your sequins are itchy – mine don’t poke through too badly so I didn’t need to, and I also wear a tee tucked in to stop the waistband rubbing. But definitely line them if you would like. And layer a belt for a more tailored look.
