For a few days ago, Marc Jacobs announced that he is leaving Louis Vuitton after 16-year at the brand. And the reason; he wants to focus more on his own label as it heads towards an IPO.Yesterday Marc Jacobs presented his last and final line as the head of Louis Vuitton and the collection was entirely in black, as was his first show for the label. Alexandra Shulman, an editor of Vogue, said” It’s important to know how to exit, as well as arrive” which Marc Jacobs successfully did.
During his 16-years on the throne, Marc Jacobs have turned Louis Vuitton from being known as a leather goods and luggage line into a global powerhouse. He also introduced the ready-to-wear line and also launched the first of the fashion house’s art collaborations, along with artists such Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama. It´s going to be interesting to find out who is going to replace Marc Jacobs and most importantly, how this person is going to fulfill all the expectations?
